GNU/Linux (also known as *Linux*) is a computer operating system, it is Unix-like computer operating system. A "Unix-like" computer operating system is one which behaves in a manner similar to a Unix system.
Linux is created as a hobby by a young student, Linus Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had mainly interest in Minix, Minix is a small UNIX system, and then Linus had decided to develop a system that exceeded the Minix standards. He began his work in 1991.
